Service Terms
1. Overview
These terms outline the conditions under which Minster Benchcraft provides jewellery repair and related services. By using our services, you agree to these terms in full. We keep them concise, transparent, and in line with UK consumer law.
2. Contact and Identification
Minster Benchcraft

Phone: 441 904 736 518
3. Appointments and Estimates
All quotes are approximate until we inspect the piece in person. Once work begins, if we discover new issues (such as metal fatigue or stone movement), we will pause and contact you with an updated estimate before proceeding.
4. Payments
We accept major debit and credit cards, cash, or bank transfer. Payment is required upon collection unless otherwise agreed in writing. Deposits may be requested for complex or multi-stage work.
5. Liability and Workmanship
Every repair is handled with care and professional skill. However, as with all benchwork, certain items—especially antique or previously repaired jewellery—carry inherent risks. We will discuss these openly before work starts. Minster Benchcraft cannot be held liable for damage caused by undisclosed flaws, wear, or prior repairs.
6. Stone and Material Handling
When possible, we check all stones before and after work. If a stone is loose or fragile, we will inform you. We may recommend additional setting work or refuse the repair if risk of loss is high. Customer consent is required for stone removal or resetting.
7. Delivery and Collection
Collection is preferred in person at our York studio. Postal returns use tracked, insured services within the UK only. Risk in transit remains with the courier once the item leaves our possession.
8. Aftercare
Aftercare advice will be provided verbally or in writing. Regular cleaning and checks help prevent future issues. Small adjustments made within three months of a completed repair are usually offered at minimal or no cost if related to our original work.
9. Cancellations
Work may be cancelled before it begins. Once benchwork or parts ordering has started, costs incurred will be charged fairly. No cancellation is possible after completion of repair due to the bespoke nature of the work.
10. Warranty
Repairs are covered by a limited service warranty lasting six months from completion, covering workmanship faults only. Normal wear, accidental damage, and loss are excluded.
11. Customer Property
All items remain the customer’s property. Uncollected work may be retained for up to twelve months; after that, it may be recycled or sold to recover unpaid costs, as permitted by law.
12. Disputes
In the rare event of a dispute, we aim to resolve matters directly and fairly. If resolution is not reached, you may refer the issue to a UK small claims court or relevant consumer protection authority.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
14. Updates
Service terms are reviewed periodically and updated when required. The latest revision date appears below.
